1930
Our story began in 1930 when Thomas Anwyl and his son, Walter, started a joinery business in Rhyl. They were soon taking on work for household names including Marks & Spencer, WHSmith and Boots, as well as building homes in the local area.
1967
We formed Anwyl Construction Company Ltd in 1967, focusing on Rhyl, but during the 1980s we took a further big step, expanding into the wider North Wales, Cheshire and Shropshire.
2000
During the early 2000s, we made a serious investment in our joinery workshop, equipping it with new machinery to help us create traditional and bespoke staircases, doors and kitchens – high-quality details that help our homes stand out.
2014
In 2014, Anwyl Homes celebrated being named the prestigious National Housebuilder of the Year. In 2016 we moved from our much-loved home on Mona Terrace in Rhyl to our new purpose-built head office at St. David’s Park near Chester.
2016 – 2017
In 2016 we established Anwyl Land as a separate division working nationwide. With a vision to become the UK’s most trusted and respected land promoter, Anwyl Land builds lasting partnerships with landowners and unlocks the potential of their land. In 2017 we open our Lancashire office.
2020
We mark our ninety years by expanding further into the North West. Once again, we were crowned Housebuilder of the Year at the Insider Residential Property Awards in 2020.
2021
We continue to introduce eco-friendly features such as air source heat pumps, solar panels and electric vehicle charging points. We also invested in digital technology, introducing virtual reality tech to help our customers visualise their new homes.
2024
We have established Anwyl Partner Projects as a dedicated business division. We work with housing associations and other registered providers to build affordable homes and residential schemes.
2025
With 95 years as a proud family business behind us, Anwyl Group has grown to become a team of over 230 people – and with so much talent at our fingertips, our business’s future is in great hands.
